In my previous blog post I demonstrated 9 Easy and Affordable DIY Photography Backgrounds for taking beautiful and engaging photos of your handmade creations, just by using everyday items that lay around your house.
No 6 was about making a portable marble background and I had promised to make a full step-by-step tutorial, so here it is! It’s super easy and you can make it in any dimensions you want. You can use it either inside a photo-box as a background or wherever you want.
Items you will need:
- Self-adhesive decorative foil with marble texture
Cut a piece of cardboard in the dimensions you want.
Cut a piece of the self-adhesive decorative foil and make sure it’s 1-2 cm wider and higher than the piece of cardboard you cut in Step 1.
Place the piece of cardboard on top of the decorative foil and center them both in x and y axis. Cut the corners of the decorative foil as shown in picture 3.
Pull out the protective paper from the self-adhesive decorative foil, place the cardboard on top of it and fold each side of the decorative foil and stick them to the four sides of the cardboard.
Here are some photos I took using this handmade background inside a photo-box.
And this is the marble photography background inside the photobox.
I hope you find this tutorial useful. If you make this DIY background, please tell me your opinion in the comments! I would also love to see your photos using this technique!
PS. Remember to remove the cat from the photobox before photoshooting!
